Dearsenification plant serving a municipal aqueduct, consisting of pressure filters made of steel.
Technology used
Adsorption onto granular ferric oxide-hydroxide. This filter medium has the ability to permanently bind arsenic through an adsorption process.
Once bound, the arsenic is not released. Granular ferric hydroxide is able to retain arsenic with equal efficiency in both the oxidation states in which it occurs (arsenite and arsenate).
